Accused murderer Marissa Shephard's charge of assaulting jail guard adjourned
Shephard, 21, of Moncton awaiting preliminary inquiry on murder, arson charges in death of Baylee Wylie

Accused murderer Marissa Shephard appeared in court Monday in connection with a charge that she assaulted a correctional officer while in custody at the New Brunswick Women's Correctional Centre in Miramichi.
Shephard, 21, is charged with assaulting a jail guard on July 28.
In her previous court appearance, the matter was set aside until Monday for an election of trial mode and a plea on the charge.
At Monday's hearing, however, defence lawyer Simon Wood requested additional time to review evidence disclosed by the Crown.
The request was granted and Shephard is now scheduled to return to court for election and plea on Dec. 19 at 9:30 a.m.
Shephard was handcuffed and walked as though her feet were shackled in the courtroom.
Shephard wore a grey sweatshirt, had long, wavy brown hair and wore no makeup.
She is already in custody awaiting her preliminary hearing after being charged with first-degree murder in the death of Baylee Wylie in Moncton in December 2015.
