Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the southwest region of New Brunswick.

Rain began in some parts of the province this morning and will end by midnight tonight, according to Environment Canada.

Rainfall between 15 and 35 millimetres is expected for Fredericton and southern York County.

Environment Canada says similar storms have caused hazardous driving conditions, elevated water levels and localized flooding.

There is also a risk of freezing rain late this evening.
