16-year-old boy dies after stabbing near Plamondon Metro station

A 16-year-old boy is dead after being stabbed near the corner of Barclay and Victoria avenues, steps away from the Plamondon Metro station. Montreal police are looking for one or two suspects.

A 16-year-old boy has died after being stabbed in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood.

According to Montreal police, the stabbing occurred around 6 p.m. on Tuesday near the corner of Barclay and Victoria avenues near the Plamondon Metro station. 

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim with upper body injuries. 

According to what witnesses told police, at least one suspect fled the scene on foot following the stabbing.

The victim was conscious when he was transported to hospital, but his condition deteriorated and police say he died earlier this morning.

His death marks the eighth homicide this year on Montreal police's territory.

"What terrible news," Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante wrote in a post in French on X. "No parent should have to go through something like this."

Investigators left the scene shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.
