Drag queens try out drag racing at Grand River Raceway

Drag racing featured a few more sequins during the opening weekend at Grand River Raceway.
The raceway celebrated its opening weekend and Tri-Pride with its second-ever Drag (Queen) Race on Friday. Grand River Raceway held also held the race in 2011.
The event paired pro-drivers Scott Young, Bob McClure, Travis Henry and Alfie Carroll with past winners of the Miss Tri-Pride pageant Nadia Diamond, Victoria Parks, Jasmine Flowers and Avan Hart.
The duos raced in the half-mile dash in double-seated jog carts and the winners were Avan Hart and Alfie Carroll, aboard eight-year-old trotter Callie Magoo.
The race raised $750 for Tri-Pride, which wrapped up on Sunday, Grand River Raceway said in a news release.
