Burmese python on the loose in Kitchener, confirms KW Humane Society
The python went missing some time Tuesday night
The Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society in on the hunt for what they believe is a missing 2-meter long Burmese python in the Mill Street and Courtland Avenue area of Kitchener.
They received a call last night from a concerned citizen saying he believed his neighbour's snake had gone missing, but the public need not panic, said Kathy Innocente, director of operations for the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society.
That report was confirmed Wednesday morning when the humane society spoke with someone at the residence where the snake was kept.
Snake will lay low at night
"It's summertime so it's warmer outside and we anticipate probably that the snake might move around during the day but as soon as it gets dark and cools off a little bit it will be more sedentary and stay in one spot," she said late Wednesday afternoon.
"He could be tucked under a bush and very hard to find," said Innocente.
She says humane society staff had spoken with several neighbours and people in the area asking if they had seen anything out of the ordinary, with little luck.
If it is spotted, she said to call the humane society immediately.
