GRT operators, mechanics, service attendants vote on tentative agreement Sunday
Voting is expected to take place over three meetings on Sunday, union president said
Roughly 740 Grand River Transit and Mobility Plus drivers, mechanics and service attendants will vote Sunday on a tentative agreement that was reached by UNIFOR Local 4304 and the Region of Waterloo on Saturday.
Voting is expected to take place over three meetings on Sunday.
"No details of the tentative agreement will be released until the members have reviewed it and voted," union president Brendan Burke said in an email to CBC News.
If the agreement is rejected by members, strike action will begin as early as Monday May 1.
The region said in a release it's optimistic that transit service will continue uninterrupted, but encourages transit riders "to have alternate plans in place in the event of a disruption."
In the event of a strike, buses, MobilityPLUS and busPLUS services will not operate, the region said, but the LRT will continue to run because that service is maintained and operated by Keolis.
