The Main Street Bridge in Galt will be closed Friday so film crews working on a Netflix series can work.

The special effects and scenes could be "disturbing," according to Cambridge officials.

The sci-fi series follows researcher Luther Swann, a "severe illness" and an infected best friend.

City officials couldn't provide the name of the series, but Netflix has a show called V-Wars slated for release in 2019.

It features a character called Dr. Luther Swan who battles vampires, including his best friend who has become "a powerful vampire leader" after a "mysterious disease" turns people into vampires.

The series stars Ian Somerhalder, who stared in the TV show The Vampire Diaries.

Crews have been filming in Cambridge all week, closing parts of downtown Galt.

On Friday, parts of Queens Square and the Main Street Bridge will be closed to through traffic.

The Market Lot will also be closed Friday, with no on-street parking on Dickson Street between Wellington and Ainslie Streets.

Waterloo Regional Police Service officers will be onsite for the shoots, and the fire department has been informed about the shoot and the planned special effects.

The filming will include "simulated violence" so people are asked not to bring children to the area to watch filming.

Galt's Main Street Bridge has been used by other television series before, including The Handsmaid's Tale.
