Daniel Trask, the Waterloo man who went missing over three years ago in the northern Ontario wilderness, was remembered yesterday as an avid outdoorsman.

Trask's body was found a week ago near Lady Evelyn Lake, close to the city of Temiskaming Shores.

A memorial was held for Trask at Kitchener's Golf Steak House on Sunday.

Trask was 28 at the time he went missing in November 2011. His car was found on Red Squirrel Road near Camp Wanapitei, a youth canoe camp, on Lake Temagami's Ferguson Bay.

Ken Schade, Trask's uncle, said that the lack of answers was hard on Trask's mother.

"They spent a lot of time searching for him and his body. When they found it, it brought peace to her, so actually it's a closure thing. Today is a celebration," he said.

Yesterday's memorial also coincided with Trask's birthday. He would have been 32.
