Collision leaves 1 City of Hamilton worker dead, another injured, police say
Police say they responded to the incident on Friday morning

A City of Hamilton worker has died after being hit by a car in Ancaster while on the job, according to Hamilton police.
According to the city and police, two city employees were performing road work on Friday at around 10:30 a.m. when they were hit by a white sedan.
A 55-year-old male worker was pronounced dead at the scene, and a another worker, 43, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, according to a news release from Hamilton Police Services.
The collision closed the area of Golf Links Road between Martindale Crescent and Legend Court for several hours on Friday.
Police said in a news release on Friday the driver, 76, stayed at the scene and was co-operating with investigators.
Flags lowered at city hall
Hamilton Mayor Andrea Horwath said in a statement she was "deeply saddened" to learn of the incident involving two Public Works employees and sent condolences to those affected.
"These individuals dedicated themselves to serving our city, and this loss will be felt throughout our community," she said.
In a social media post, Ward 10 Coun. Craig Cassar echoed Horwath's statement and sent condolences to those affected.
Other councillors, like Ward 2's Cameron Kroetsch and Ward 8's John-Paul Danko also expressed condolences.
The City of Hamilton said flags at city hall and at the workplaces of the two employees have been lowered to half-mast.
"This loss will be felt across our organization and the Hamilton community," read the city's statement.
Hamilton police are still investigating and asking anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
