For more than five decades, Massey Boucher has made his home, and his living, in the immense boreal forest south of Fort McMurray. He is a trapper. The world is changing all around him.

His name is Massey Boucher.

For more than five decades, he has made his home, and his living, in the immense boreal forest near Fort McMurray in northern Alberta.

In the course of his lifetime, a sleepy little town in the valley of the Athabasca River has been transformed into a boom-and-bust oil city, where fortunes have been made, and lost, over and over again.

He is a Métis trapper who lives a peaceful and solitary life in his cabin in the woods.

This video offers a glimpse into his world.
