Man's body found in north Edmonton park
A man's body was discovered Tuesday morning in a north Edmonton park.
Police were called to Grand Trunk Park near 109th Street and 130th Avenue just before 9:30 a.m.
Homicide detectives are investigating and treating the discovery as a suspicious death.
An autopsy has yet to be scheduled, and police gave no other details.
Margaret Klut, who has lived in the neighbourhood since 1958, said nothing like this has ever happened in her community.
"I was kind of stunned at first," she said. "Kind of shakes you up a bit. It's right across the road from your house."
Klut often hears fireworks in the park late at night in the summer, but she was up until 1 a.m. and didn't hear anything unusual.
As unusual as the discovery of the body is, the incident doesn't make Klut question the safety of where she lives.
"Not really, because I don't think there's any place that's any better in this city anymore," she said.
