Update: On June 27, 2024, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team said the officers' actions were "proportionate to the threat of death or grievous bodily harm" posed by the man, who was armed with a gun and pointing it toward the officers.

The force used was "proportionate, necessary, and reasonable in all the circumstances," thus no grounds to believe an offence was committed, the decision said.
