An Oiler named Taylor Hall was dealt east. Edmonton fans were shocked to say the least.

An Oiler named Taylor Hall was dealt east,

Edmonton fans were shocked, to say the least,

Now he's a Devil, and Edmonton fans can just revel, and hope Adam Larrson's a beast,

CBC' Edmonton decided to mark the trade by asking fans to pen a poem or two,

And it was a task which brought out the shock and anger anew.

"There once was an Oiler named Hall,

Who was once the best of them all,

But along came McDavid, and Taylor was traded,

While Oiler fans could only bawl."

-Mark Connolly, CBC Radio

"There once was a player named Hall,

Alongside the Oilers he shared a great fall,

No playoffs for years, he his share of tears,

But it was yesterday he cried most of all,

Destination Newark. Traded for Larson,

The worst Oilers deal since they traded Gretzky for Jimmy Carson,

Instead of McDavid his new centreman will be Henrique,

It's safe to say for Taylor Hall, his future looks bleak,

Instead of being part of the Oilers solution,

He now toils for the Devils, beyond absolution."

-Scott Regehr, CBC Sports

"When the Oilers swapped Larsson for Hall,

Many fans raged on their facebook walls,

But Chiarelli had a plan,

He said "Lucic is our man,

I just pray he's taking my calls."

-Peter Brown, CBC Radio
