Whether it is movies, music, military history or the heart of a nation, there's plenty of ways to celebrate with a classic throwback this weekend.

Whose Live Anyway?

What: Head to where the points don't matter but you're sure to get a giggle on Thursday night as several of the funnymen behind Whose Line is it Anyway perform a 90-minute-long improvised show at the Northlands Expo Centre. 

When? Sept. 17, doors open at 7 p.m.

History of a theatre

What: The historic Garneau Theatre is turning 75 this year, and to celebrate, Metro Cinema has planned four full days of awesomeness, and will be screening a mix of classics (The Great Dictator, Philadelphia Story), cult favourites (The Usual Suspects, What We Do in the Shadows) and some flat-out terrifying films (It Follows). The theatre is also holding a special 75th birthday-edition of its Saturday morning All-You-Can-Eat-Cereal cartoon party.

When? Sept. 18 to 21

RCAF Week in Edmonton

What: Look to the skies (or at least to things that take to the skies) this weekend as RCAF Week wraps up with a bang. Here's a look at what's still to come:
  • Rare aircraft cockpit tours and food truck times five — Sept. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Cadets on parade — Sept. 19 from 2 to 3 p.m.
  • 75th anniversary Battle of Britain dinner — Sept. 19 at 6 p.m.
  • Griesbach RCAF street naming ceremony — Sept. 20 at 1 p.m.

When? Running through to Sept. 20

Terry Fox

What: It's been 35 years since Terry Fox ran from St. John's, Nfld. to Thunder Bay, Ont. — inspiring a legacy in the process. That legacy is the inspiration behind a travelling exhibit now at the Telus World of Science. Running to the Heart of Canada explores the enduring importance Fox holds in Canadians' minds and hearts, showcasing maps, archival news clippings and memorabilia to share the story.

When? Runs through to Nov. 8

Back in Black

What: AC/DC, also known as everyone's favourite band to sing along to, is performing Sunday night at Commonwealth Stadium as part of the band's Rock or Bust World Tour. Go get Thunderstruck.

When? Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.
