Man dies after house fire in northeast Calgary

One person is dead after a house fire in Falconridge in northeast Calgary early Monday morning.

One person is dead after a house fire in Falconridge in northeast Calgary early Monday morning.

Crews were called to the 70 block of Falwood Place N.E. at about 4:20 a.m. where a single-storey house was showing visible fire and smoke, the fire department said in a release.

The fire was quickly brought under control.

One male resident had managed to get out safely with two dogs, but two other residents had to be rescued by firefighters.

A woman was taken to hospital in serious condition while a man, who was in cardiac arrest, was given CPR by medical crews at the scene. 

He died at the scene.

The house is likely a complete loss, fire officials said. 

A fire investigator is at the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
