One person killed in fiery Crowchild Trail crash

A vehicle struck a sign pole on northbound Crowchild Trail Wednesday morning, leaving one person dead, first responders confirm to CBC News.

One person was killed in a collision Wednesday morning on Crowchild Trail, according to police.

Calgary firefighters say they responded to the site of the crash, just south of Flanders Avenue S.W., around 8:20 a.m., where a vehicle had collided with the concrete base of a large traffic sign on northbound Crowchild Trail and then caught fire.

The lone occupant of the vehicle died at the scene, according to paramedics.

Police said two vehicles were involved in the crash.
