NHL playoffs: What you need to know for Saturday

Get up to speed on today's most important news from the Stanley Cup playoffs, including the return of suspended Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw and Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury's injury status.

Suspended Shaw returns to Blackhawks' lineup

Andrew Shaw, left, will return to the Blackhawks lineup Saturday night after serving a one-game suspension for uttering a homophobic slur. Chicago, which trails 3-2 in the best-of-seven NHL Western Conference quarter-final, may also have some history on its side: under head coach Joel Quenneville, the Blackhawks are 14-1 in Game 6 tilts. The Stanley Cup playoffs are on. Each day, we'll keep you updated on the important news involving players, starting lineups, injuries and more. Check back throughout the day to stay in the know.

Shaw returns for Game 6

The Chicago Blackhawks will get a key piece back in the lineup for tonight's Game 6 against St. Louis (CBC, CBC Sports app, 8 p.m. ET) as Andrew Shaw returns from his one-game suspension for uttering a homophobic slur.

Chicago may also have some history on their side: under head coach Joel Quenneville, the Blackhawks are 14-1 in Game 6 tilts.

Seguin ruled out for Game 6

Tyler Seguin will not return to the ice Sunday afternoon as the Dallas Stars make a second attempt to clinch their first-round series against Minnesota.

A lower-body injury will keep the all-star centre out of the lineup for Game 6 at Xcel Energy Center (3 p.m. ET). Seguin played Game 2 after missing a month with a slight cut of his left Achilles tendon but hasn't been on the ice since.

While the Stars, with a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final, have scored 14 goals in the four games without Seguin, they would much prefer to have the player who scored 33 goals and 73 points in the regular season in the lineup.

Fleury skates in gear

Pens goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, sidelined since April 2 with a concussion, skated without pads on Friday, but took the ice Saturday morning in full equipment.

There's no rush for him to return though: Pittsburgh defeated the New York Rangers 6-3 on Saturday to clinch the first-round series in five games. Backup goalie Matt Murray, who allowed only one goal on 48 shots in Games 3 and 4, stopped 38 of 41 shots on Saturday.

Andersen the man in Anaheim

After helping his team out of an 0-2 series hole, Ducks goalie Frederik Andersen gets the nod in net for Game 5 against the visiting Nashville Predators.

Andersen has stopped 57 of 58 shots taken by the Predators.
