Struggling Reds welcome back Harang

Aaron Harang will return to the mound in hopes of halting the Cincinnati Reds' five-game losing streak.

The ace right-hander was activated from the disabled list prior to Sunday afternoon's home matchup against Houston after spending the past month recovering from a strained right forearm.

After reinstating Harang, Cincinnati sent right-hander Homer Bailey back to triple-A Louisville.

Harang has posted a 3-11 record and 4.76 earned-run average in 20 games this season, including 19 starts.

Bailey was 0-6 with a 7.93 ERA, having allowed 30 hits and 16 runs in 12 1/3 innings in his last three starts.

In a related move Sunday, the Reds designated catcher David Ross for assignment and recalled catcher Ryan Hanigan from Louisville.

Ross hit .231 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 52 games with Cincinnati this season.

Hanigan, who went 3-for-10 in five games with the Reds last September, hit .324 with four homers and 35 RBI in 75 games this season with Louisville.
