Region makes plans to move forward with transit hub construction
The Region of Waterloo says on-the-ground work to start building the transit hub at King Street W. and Victoria Street N. in downtown Kitchener will begin in early 2026. That means Metrolinx and construction crews will be on site. As part of that work, the region says it will have to move people living at an encampment at 100 Victoria St. N. A new bylaw will go before regional councillors on April 23 that would, if passed, require the site to be vacant by Dec. 1, 2025.
