Canada's labour market added 76,000 jobs in January and the unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage points to 6.6 per cent, beating economist expectations, according to Statistics Canada's latest labour force survey published Friday. Economist Moshe Lander says this increase is a ‘little bit of an illusion’ because economic activity was front-loaded with the threat of Trump tarrifs — which, if they come, would impact almost every sector of the economy and jobs.
