Coroner's inquest into death of Florence Girard wraps up Wednesday
The inquest into the death of a 54-year-old woman with Down syndrome will conclude in Burnaby, B.C., on Wednesday. Florence Girard starved to death in a B.C. care home, weighing a little more than 50 pounds, in 2018. Her caregiver was convicted of failing to provide Girard with the necessities of life. As Yvette Brend reports, a coroner's jury has been hearing testimony over the course of a week — and will come back with recommendations to prevent deaths like Girard’s in the future.
