U.S. president-elect Donald Trump blamed California Gov. Gavin Newsom for the escalation of wildfires in Los Angeles, claiming the governor had blocked the infusion of water into the state. But Kira Hoffman, fire ecologist at UBC and a former wildfire fighter, tells BC Today host Michelle Eliot that water resources would have done little to tame the spread of the blazes due to strong winds and limited aircraft support.
