Actress Cherry Jones, who won a Tony Award in 2005 in the role of the nun confronting accusations of child sexual abuse in Doubt, will play President Allison Taylor on 24.

Canadian Keifer Sutherland will be back as counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer.

Dennis Haysbert played President Palmer, the first black president,and D.B. Woodside played his brother Wayne Palmer, the second black president.

Jones also won a Tony for The Heiress, andhasstarred in Clubhouse and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.

24, an action-packed series in which each program covers an hour in a single day, will begin its seventh season this fall.
