Leah Remini blasts Tom Cruise, Scientology in new interview with 20/20
Actress stars in reality doc series It's All Relative about Scientology break
Actress Leah Remini is talking about Scientology and Tom Cruise in a new interview with ABC's 20/20.
She says in a clip released Monday that "being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself...you are evil."
The interview is scheduled to air Friday at 10 p.m. EDT.
Remini, 45, was raised as a Scientologist but left the church two years ago.
In the 20/20 interview, she will discuss how she and her family joined the Church when she was a young girl, built a successful acting career and how she eventually decided to sever ties with the Church.
"As time goes on, you start to lose touch with the real world. The mindset becomes 'Us against them,'" Remini, who has also detailed her break with Scientology in the TLC reality documentary series It's All Relative, says in the released video excerpt.
"The decision to leave is you are giving up everything you have ever known and everything you have worked for your whole life."
Her memoir, Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, is set for release next month.
Representatives for Cruise and the Church of Scientology did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
