Hollywood is capitalizing on nostalgia of late, with reboots like Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys setting the tone.

Now Adam Sandler is counting on a wistfulness for Pac Man and other arcade stars of the 80s with his new comedy, Pixels.

A team of video game masters (Sandler, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage) are summoned to save the world to battle aliens disguised as creatures from classic video games.

But when it comes to Sandler, it's "time to hit the reset button," says CBC's Eli Glasner.

"If Adam Sandler's career was an arcade game, he'd be on his last life."

Pixels hits theatres Friday.
