New Fifty Shades of Grey book will tell Christian Grey's story, E.L. James reveals

Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James announced, Grey, the upcoming 4th novel in her bestselling erotic series via social media on Monday, revealing that the new book is due out June 18.

"The wait is almost over," exclaimed Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James, announcing the arrival of the fourth book in her wildly popular erotic fiction series.

The new book, titled Grey, will be released on June 18, James revealed on social media Monday.

Like the previous novels, the book centres in on the BDSM romance between a dominating billionaire, Christian Grey, and a young college student, Anastasia Steele.

But this time story will be told from Grey's point of view.

"Christian is a complex character," James said in a statement on her website, and readers have always been fascinated by his desires and motivations, and his troubled past."

 "Also, as anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows, there are two sides to every story."

James's Fifty Shades of Grey trilogyThe Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed— has sold more than 125 million copies worldwide, says her publisher.

The first movie adaptation, starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, has grossed more than $558-million US worldwide since its release on Feb. 13. 

James's husband, Niall Leonard, a published author and TV writer, is signed on to write the screenplay for the highly-anticipated follow-up after the departure of Kelly Marcel.

Also not returning is director Sam Taylor-Johnson, whose disputes with James were well-known.

Grey will be published as an e-book and a paperback original by Vintage Books.
