Céline Dion still trying for 2nd child

Canadian pop singer Céline Dion's pregnancy attempt has failed, her publicist said Wednesday.

Dion, 41, had announced her pregnancy in August, achieved with the help of fertility treatments.

Her spokeswoman said the pregnancy failed, but the star continues to seek fertility treatments in an effort to have a second child. A new set of treatments is scheduled for this weekend in New York.

The Quebec-born singer and her husband, René Angélil, have an eight-year-old son, René-Charles, also conceived with the help of fertility treatments.

Angelil, 67, told the Journal de Montreal he takes comfort in the fact that they have one child.

He said the couple initially believed the fertility treatment had worked, but the two were later informed by a doctor that it had not.

Dion is one of 14 children and has expressed a desire for a larger family.

She is one of the world's most successful entertainers, placing second to Madonna on Forbes magazine's list of top-earning musicians.
