After hearing Anne Murray sing for decades, fans of Canada's Songbird will soon get a chance to read about her life story.

Knopf Canada announced Thursday plans to release a memoir by the award-winning Springhill, N.S., pop-country music icon this fall.

"After being on tour for most of my adult life, the time was right to stop and reflect," Murray said in a statement.

"Besides," she added, "I thought it was important to do this memoir, while I can still remember things!"

The memoir, which will be co-authored by Globe and Mail arts journalist Michael Posen, is tentatively titled All of Me.

"We all grew up with Anne Murray. She is one of Canada's most enduring music legends — and a beloved, admired figure well beyond the music field," said Knopf Canada associate publisher Michael Schellenberg.

"She has legions of fans who are going to want to find out what the somewhat private performer has to say about her career and the challenges she has met being in the public eye for over four decades."

Murray, who has more than two dozen records under her belt, released the latest — Duets: Friends and Legends — in 2007. She performed at the Juno Awards in Calgary last April and accepted the Hitmaker Award from the the U.S. Songwriters Hall of Fame in June 2008.
