SIU investigating sexual assault allegations against Windsor police officer

A Windsor police officer is being investigated by Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) after allegations of sexual assault spanning more than a decade.

A Windsor police officer is being investigated by Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) over allegations of sexual assault spanning more than a decade. 

The SIU said in a statement the allegations were reported to the SIU by the Windsor Police Service on Sunday. Alleged incidents took place between 2011 and 2023. 

The SIU investigates cases of death, serious injury or sexual assault allegations made against police. 

The agency did not release the name of the complainant or accused Windsor police officer, citing the "heightened privacy interests of the involved parties, most emphatically, the complainants."
