The Windsor Police Service is urging people to use its Safe Internet Exchange Zone when buying and selling goods online — after a buyer was robbed trying to purchase a product.
The buyer had agreed to meet someone in the Remington Park area to make the purchase, police said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) Thursday morning.
But instead, a group of teenagers attacked the individual and robbed them of their cellphone and other items.
The Safe Internet Exchange Zone is located at the Windsor Police Traffic Collision Reporting Centre at 2696 Jefferson Blvd.
The area has two designated spots for online purchase transactions, police said, which are monitored by live video and audio surveillance 24/7.
