Windsor police are investigating a homicide which happened overnight in the 1100 block of Heathfield Court.

Windsor police said officers arrived on scene to numerous people screaming that someone had been shot. Officers then discovered a 23-year-old Windsor man who suffered gunshot wounds outside of the residence.

The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he later died. At that point Windsor Police classified the incident as a homicide investigation.

Police say there appeared to have been a house party at the residence.

Stephanie Adams lives on Heathfield Court. She said her husband woke her up after he heard people fighting outside.

He told Adams he saw a white car pull up to the house and then heard four gunshots. He saw a man holding his stomach and the car drove away. Emergency services showed up on the scene and put the victim into an ambulance.

Adams said she isn't scared but "more shocked, sad."

She has lived in the neighbourhood for five years and always thought of it as a peaceful area.

"Quiet, kids play, sometimes there are little parties but nothing of this magnitude," she said.

Windsor police said the investigation is in its initial stages and there is no threat to public safety.
