The Windsor Police Service says it's searching for three suspects after a violent home invasion involving firearms.

It happened on Sunday at around 9 p.m. in the 1500 block of Bruce Avenue, the service said in a news release issued Wednesday.

Police say three people, two armed with firearms, accosted a man as he approached the back door to his home.

They allegedly struck him in the head with a firearm, forced their way into the home, and stole money and several cell phones before fleeing the scene in an SUV-style vehicle.

The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the three children at home at the time of the incident were not physically harmed.

Investigators are urging everyone who lives in the area to check their dash-cam or surveillance footage, specifically between the hours of 8:30 and 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 12, for evidence related to the case.

They're asking anyone with information to call the major crimes unit.

They can also contact Windsor and Essex County Crime Stoppers to remain anonymous.
