Ontario Provincial Police are telling the public to avoid Tremblay Beach Conservation Area, if possible, due to a fire.

In a social media post, the police service described the fire as large. The blaze had broken out on St. Clair Road in the Stoney Point community of Lake Shore. Photos from the scene show large plumes of grey smoke.

"Emergency services are at the scene. Please avoid the area if possible," police said just after 7:30 on Friday night.

A spokesperson for the Municipality of Lakeshore said in an email just before 8 p.m. that the fire is now under control and no one was hurt.

The cause is under investigation.
