Police announced Friday that the body of 26-year-old Shilan Shahbazian, a Windsor woman who had been missing for more than two months, has been found.

"Investigators do not suspect foul play in her death," the Windsor Police Service said on social media platform X

Shahbazian was last seen on Jan. 4 near Huron Church Road and Riverside Drive West. Friends described her as a smart, hardworking and kind person.

"She's beautiful and really talented. She is a good person and was happy to be in Canada to build her own new life here," said Kim Lam, owner of Kim's Nails and Spa, where Shahbazian had worked for nearly a year.

Her disappearance had left her family in Iran feeling helpless, as they struggled to find answers in the weeks she remained missing.

"What has happened to her? Is she alive or not? We just want to find her," Shahbazian's mother told CBC through a translator last month.

Her uncle said at the time that the family had "no one in Canada" to turn to for help.

"It's not possible for us to travel there," he said. "Since Iran has no diplomatic relations with Canada, we can't even pursue this matter through the Iranian government."

The statement from police did not provide further information and police did not immediately respond to a request for additional details.

"Our thoughts are with Ms. Shahbazian's family and loved ones, and we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time," police said.
