A LaSalle woman's dog just gave birth to a litter of puppies that were sired by a champion show dog.

Kirsten McGregor's dog, Luna, gave birth to eight puppies.

The father is a dog named CJ, a German shorthaired pointer that was named "best of show" at the Westminster Kennel Dog Club Show earlier this year.

McGregor said the puppies were born on April 6. In all, Luna, who is also a German shorthaired pointer, gave birth to five males and three females.

On Instagram, Kirsten McGregor has posted pictures of the puppies her dog Luna gave birth to. The puppies were fathered by CJ, a German shorthaired pointer that was named "best in show" at the Westminster dog show earlier this year. (@kirsmc/Instagram)

"This is her first litter," she told CBC Radio's Windsor Morning in a telephone interview. "She did really well."

The puppies were born in Michigan. McGregor said she'll be looking after one of the puppies once it can be brought back to LaSalle. Her brother is hoping to give a home to another one.
