Health unit finds 3 larvae for mosquitoes with the potential to carry Zika
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will update the public on the yellow fever mosquito which carries the Zika virus tomorrow.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit said it collected Aedes aegypti larvae in Windsor earlier this month but they tested negative for the Zika virus.
The larvae were identified and reared, when they became adults they were confirmed to be Aedes aegypti.
The Aedes aegypti mosquito, also known as the yellow fever mosquito, is the species responsible for the majority of human cases of Zika virus infections in the Caribbean, South America and Florida.
The health unit will update the public on the yellow fever mosquito which carries the Zika virus tomorrow.
