Amherstburg's restoration of the historical Bellevue House got a financial boost this week with a renowned artist donating to the upcoming project. 

Peter Rindlisbacher says he will donate proceeds from his next painting to help fund the work being done at Bellevue House. 

Amherstburg town council decided buy the historic mansion for $1.1 million, which will be paid over the next five years. The house dates back to 1816 and is on the National Trust for Canada's top 10 list of endangered places.

Rindlisbacher, who is a member of the Canadian Society of Marine Artists and American Society of Marine Artists, has donated proceeds from many of his sales to charitable organizations.
