GTA under heat warning as sweltering temperatures continue
Highs of 32 C expected, with humidex making it feel more like 40
Most of the Greater Toronto Area is under a heat warning, Environment Canada says, with soaring temperatures expected to continue through Thursday.
Warnings are in effect for Toronto, as well as Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Milton and Oakville.
The weather agency says hot and humid air is expected to arrive in the region Tuesday, with daytime temperatures up to 32 C expected, and humidex values making it feel closer to 40.
Cooler temperatures may arrive by Thursday night, Environment Canada said in a statement.
"Extreme heat can affect everyone's health," the statement reads."The health risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, pregnant people, people with physical and/or mental illnesses, and people with disabilities or mobility issues.
"Drink plenty of water regularly, even before you feel thirsty to decrease your risk of dehydration."
