A man is in hospital after being stabbed at a McDonald's in the city's east end — one of four separate stabbings reported overnight across the Toronto area.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Eglinton Avenue East and McCowan Road at about 2:30 a.m.
Paramedics say the victim had serious stab wounds to his face and leg and was rushed to a nearby trauma centre.
Police from 41 Division are investigating.
The Toronto area also saw a double shooting and three other stabbings overnight, including an incident in a parking lot at Meadowvale Town Centre in Mississauga.
Peel Regional Police say they were called to the area at 2:39 a.m. for a disturbance. They found a 23-year-old man in the McDonald's parking lot with puncture wounds after being stabbed. He was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital where police say he is in stable condition.
"The incident is not random and the general public is not in danger," Const. Lori Murphy told CBC News.
Murphy added there were several people present at the time. The suspect has not been apprehended and police are investigating the incident.
