Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in New Year's Eve shooting in Oshawa
Durham police have charged a 44-year-old man with second-degree murder after a shooting in an Oshawa apartment on New Year’s Eve. The accused was arrested in Whitby on Wednesday, police said in a news release.

Durham police have charged a 44-year-old man with second-degree murder after a shooting in an Oshawa apartment on New Year's Eve.
Police responded to reports of an armed person at 1040 Cedar St. around 2 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man shot inside the building.
The victim, 29-year-old Dennis Binda of Oshawa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a news release Thursday, police said the accused, also from Oshawa, was arrested on Wednesday in Whitby. He was held for a bail hearing.
Police had issued an arrest warrant for the accused two days before he was arrested.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Durham police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers. Tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 cash reward, police said.
