Homicide unit investigating after man found dead in downtown Oakville

The Halton police homicide unit is investigating a suspicious death after a man in his 40s was found dead in downtown Oakville. Officers were called to the scene near Lakeshore Road East and Navy Street around 5:30 p.m., after reports of an adult man found dead in a building.

No suspect information at this time, Halton police say

The Halton police homicide unit is investigating a suspicious death after a man in his 40s was found dead in downtown Oakville. 

Officers were called to the scene near Lakeshore Road East and Navy Street around 5:30 p.m., after reports of a man found dead in a building, police said in a news release Sunday. 

The man was discovered by someone who knew him, Const. Ryan Anderson said on Saturday night. 

In a news release on Tuesday, police identified the man as 43-year-old Baljeet 'Bally' Toki from Oakville.

There is no suspect information at this time. 

Police declined to provide information on any injuries sustained by the man on Sunday, but told CBC Toronto the incident is being investigated as a possible homicide.

Anyone with information about the incident or who may have dashcam footage of Lakeshore Road East between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. is asked to contact police or leave an anonymous tip with Crimestoppers. 

Lakeshore Road East is closed between Navy and Thomas streets and is expected to reopen Sunday morning.
