Ontario Sunshine List 2016: Here's what high-profile Torontonians earned

The annual Sunshine List grew by seven per cent in 2016, with more than 123,000 workers in the province's public sector earning more than $100,000.

Here are some of the high-profile Torontonians who made the list.

John Tory, Mayor

 The mayor pulled in $184,666.04. That's almost $3,000 more than his salary last year, which was $181,954.15.

City manager Peter Wallace earned almost double the mayor's salary. His salary was $350,072.89 last year.

Andy Byford, TTC CEO

The TTC's CEO Andy Byford earned $339,913.43 in 2016 — which is about $1,000 less than in 2015.

The number of Metrolinx employees on the list grew from 411 in 2015 to 481 in 2016, with the agency's CEO Bruce McCuaig earning $361,114.66 last year.

Mark Saunders, Toronto Chief of Police

The Chief of Police, Mark Saunders, was paid $332,511.59 — an increase of over $45,000 from 2015. 

Mark Pugash, the director of communications for the police service, earned $193,308.29 — an increase of almost $12,000 over 2015.

Toronto Fire Chief Jim Sales earned $271,391.62 in 2016. He stepped down as fire chief last October, a departure the city called a "mutual decision." He earned just over $244,000 in 2015.

Kathleen Wynne, Premier

The premier's salary went unchanged in 2016. Kathleen Wynne earned $208,974.00, the same she did in 2015. Salaries for the premier, cabinet ministers and all MPPs have been frozen since 2009.
