Man dead after pickup truck hits TTC bus in Scarborough

A 30-year-old man is dead after the pickup truck he was driving hit a TTC bus in Scarborough on Tuesday, Toronto police say.

A 30-year-old man is dead after the pickup truck he was driving hit a TTC bus in Scarborough on Tuesday, Toronto police say.

The crash happened at Meadowvale Road and Sheppard Avenue E. Police were called to the intersection at about 6:10 p.m.

In a news release on Wednesday, police said the man was driving a black Ram pickup truck eastbound on Sheppard Avenue E. approaching Meadowvale Road when he struck the rear corner of a TTC bus.

The bus was also eastbound on Sheppard Avenue E. and was stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection when it was hit, police said.

Police said the pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No one on the TTC bus was injured.

Officers closed roads in the area to allow police to investigate the crash, but the roads have since reopened. Police's traffic services unit is continuing to investigate the crash.

CBC Toronto has reached out to the TTC for comment, but it has not yet responded.

Local residents, businesses, and drivers who may have security or dashboard camera footage of the area or incident are urged to come forward to police.
