Woman dead after being struck by vehicle on QEW, police say

Ontario Provincial Police say a 37-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle on Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville on Sunday.

Ontario Provincial Police say a 37-year-old woman was fatally struck by a vehicle on Queen Elizabeth Way in Oakville on Sunday. 

Police were called about the collision near Royal Windsor Drive at around 11:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they performed life-saving measures but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, an OPP spokesperson said. 

The driver remained at the scene and police are not considering criminal charges at this time. 

Police shut down a large stretch of Queen Elizabeth Way for close to seven hours Sunday afternoon as they investigated the collision. 

Police said all lanes were reopened just before 8 p.m.
