Temperatures could feel like -35C in GTA Wednesday morning: Environment Canada
Extreme cold warning lifted around 10 a.m.
Frigid temperatures are persisting in the GTA on Wednesday morning, with wind chill values ranging from minus 30 to as low as minus 35, Environment Canada warns.
An Arctic air mass is bringing bitterly cold winds to the area and dropping temperatures, the federal weather agency said.
Environment Canada put Toronto and the rest of the GTA under an extreme cold weather warning for Wednesday morning, which lifted around 10:30 a.m.
Temperatures are forecast to return to more seasonable ranges by Thursday.
People are advised to check for cold-related symptoms including shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain, numbness and colour changes in fingers and toes.
"Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill," the federal weather agency said.
