A six-year-old boy has died after falling from a balcony on the 10th floor of an apartment building in North York on Thursday, Toronto police said.
The incident happened near Jane Street and Grandravine Drive around 4:25 p.m., police say.
The boy was taken to hospital with critical injuries, where he later died, police spokesperson Laura Brabant said in an email to CBC Toronto on Friday.
"This is a very tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the child's family, the citizens and first responders who attended to the child after the fall," Brabant said.
She said police are investigating the circumstances around the fall. At this time, the incident doesn't appear to be criminal in nature, she said.
