Teen charged with child porn, police issue warning

Police have already laid charges after a sexually explicit video was made at a Schreiber hotel and posted online this week, now they're warning that anyone viewing or distributing the video could also be charged.

Police say sharing images of incident at Schrieber hotel could lead to criminal charges

Police have already laid charges after a sexually explicit video was made at a Schreiber hotel and posted online, now they're warning that anyone viewing or distributing the video could also be charged.

A 19-year-old man is facing multiple child pornography charges after OPP said he recorded a sexually explicit video of a sixteen-year-old girl in a hotel on Jan. 6 and then posted the video on a social media website.

Police said the video has been removed from the website, but it may already have been shared by people in Schreiber.

Criminal charges can result from anyone viewing sexually-explicit images and video of a young person who is under the age of 18, police said.

"The thought that these images may be redistributed by certain individuals who fail to appreciate the seriousness of their callous actions will not be tolerated by the members of this detachment nor this community," said Staff Sergeant Randy Bye, detachment commander of Nipigon/Schreiber OPP.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
