Cow moose shot and left for dead, Ontario wildlife officials seeking information
Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says animal found on Halloween
Wildlife officials in Ontario are looking for answers after a cow moose was reportedly found shot and left for dead north of Sioux Lookout, Ont.
In a press release issued Thursday, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry said it is seeking the public's help in identifying who is responsible for killing the animal and leaving the carcass behind.
The ministry said that the moose was found on October 31 on the Stanzhikimi Road, and that an investigation of the kill site indicated that the animal had been shot with a firearm and left to spoil.
Conservation officers investigated the area but could not find any evidence to indicate who shot the moose, the MNRF said.
Anyone with information is being asked to call the ministry's TIPS line at 1-877-847-7667, or the Sioux Lookout district office at 807-737-1140.
