Thunder Bay church members report suspicious activity to police after money taken

Thunder Bay police have issued a warning about a man who has been attending area churches over the last few months to allegedly bilk people out of their money.

Police said they have received reports about a man who befriends parishioners and tells a story that plays on their heartstrings.

The man has been given money and, in some cases, access to bank accounts.

Police reported a "significant" amount of money has been taken in some cases.

They are trying to track down a man about 55-years-old.  He's about six-feet-two-inches tall, with a medium build and graying hair.

Individuals who think they may have been defrauded by this person are asked to contact Thunder Bay police at 684-1200. Police are also asking for people to come forward with information that may help them determine his identity.
