Michelle MacKinnon of Niagara Falls said she felt a strong connect to Taylum Lamoureux when she read about him on Facebook.
"At first I started to cry because it was another child who was in kidney failure who needed a kidney," she said. "I can't save them all and I want to."
Lamoureux was born with polycystic kidney disease and had been waiting for a kidney transplant for two years at the time MacKinnon reached out to his family to donate her kidney.
MacKinnon's own son needed a kidney transplant, but he died before the surgery.
It has been one month since Taylum Lamoureux had his transplant. His mother Desiree said he is doing well.
